MOLLY TUTTLE

Molly tuttle Band photo with guitar

Thank you Carrie Hoff, for grabbing this amazing photo. We’ve missed you greatly!

All summer long, I heard, “Did you see that Molly Tuttle?” “Have you heard of Molly Tuttle?” I’d missed the Charley Crockett show when she was in town earlier this summer. When I heard she was returning for her own show, I started bugging Tim about seeing if we could schedule a session.

Her crew was happy to oblige. We had some winners in who enjoyed free lunch from Port of Subs. The band talked about being excited to return to their favorite Boise coffee shop, Pine Coffee!

Molly Tuttle came from a musical family, her dad was a musician in Illinois, and her Grandpa played banjo. She also played shows with her brothers.

Molly’s newest album is called, “City of Gold.” Jerry Douglas was the producer. They met a some bluegrass festivals, and then during this great project called Trans Atlantic Sessions.

Some of the non-profits Molly likes to give attention to include, “Why Hunger?”

She also supports NAAF, The National Alopecia Areata Foundations. She said it’s something she’s always struggles with that involves thinning of the hair. She grew up wearing a lot of hats, and being made fun of. Now she often wears wigs.

Molly is an amazing guitarist, she was doing all kinds of crazy positions with her pick, and sometimes seemed to do a claw hammer style like they do on banjo. I asked twice what kind of guitar she was playing as it had no brand on it. I’m pretty sure she said Freeborn custom guitars. It sounded amazing.

Here’s Molly Tuttle and Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine show, joined up to do this song for us.
