Celebrate Women’s History Month with an unforgettable night of jazz featuring a powerhouse all-women jazz trio with Sophia Augustine (bass) and Jackie Rush (drums) from Los Angeles, alongside Boise-based pianist Alex Sjobeck.

Sophia Augustine is a rising bassist and recent graduate of Cal State Northridge whose work includes recent recordings in Los Angeles and performances across the city’s vibrant music scene. Jackie Rush, a dynamic drummer and KKJZ Scholar, has toured internationally with artists including Laufey and GeorgiaGetsBy and is an in-demand performer, educator, and recording artist in LA.
Pianist and composer Alex Sjobeck is an award-winning jazz artist whose career began in New York City while studying at the Manhattan School of Music. She has performed across the country and currently teaches in the jazz program at Boise State University.
The evening will also feature a special guest Derek Ganong, Director of Jazz Studies at Boise State University, joining the trio on stage for a truly memorable performance.

This BSU after school jazz program was selected for a 2025 Boise City Mayor’s Award and its two ensembles represent some of the highest level high school jazz musicians in the Treasure Valley.
The Gene Harris All-Stars Jazz program is a Boise State University after-school, audition only program designed for high school students who want to be more engaged with jazz performances in the Treasure Valley.
