Jade Bird and guitarist Luke Prosser joined us in the Blue Moon Listener Lounge for a great acoustic session on a Saturday.

Jade was excited to find some Throat Coat tea to help her voice feel better, and she sounded great. She was full of smiles and hugs for all our listeners.

I did get a peek at Jade’s backstage rider requests for the venues!

DRESSING ROOM RIDER REQUIREMENTS –
-Selection of fresh sandwiches for 4 people: Meat / Veggie / Tuna etc.
-Fruit Selection: Apples, Bananas, Blueberries
-Crisps & Snacks: Walkers / Kettle Chips. Any local recommend snacks too!
-4 x Local Beer.
-Chocolate Biscuits: Penguin / Jacob Club / Blue Riband etc
-12 x 500ml Bottles of Evian
-Fresh Orange Juice -Kettle -Earl Grey / English Breakfast Tea bags
-Dairy AND Non dairy milk (Almond preferred)
-Manuka Honey / Lemons / Fresh Ginger -Knife / Chopping board / teaspoons / cups / plates / glasses
-1 x Black Ballpoint Pen

What would be on your rider? It’s fun to imagine what things you would love so much you would want at every show. Hers is very healthy! I love that she gets to sample local beers from all the places she plays.

Jade Bird was smart and cut an EP before a label signed her, so she could decide on her on music style. She spoke of influences like CSN, Neil Young, Bob Dylan. They were also very exited about a framed Linkin Park record we have on our wall. She said Newport was her favorite festival to play at, and how great it was to meet Brandi Carlile. “She was the loveliest woman.” She was amazed to meet Dolly Parton and Linda Perry.

On stage, Jade feels most at home. She said her head goes “round and round” most of the time, but being on stage is a calm place. It was delightful to spend some acoustic time with her.

She said they were inspired by a Gillian Welch/David Rawlings cover of this Radiohead song.
