Half of Ratboys, Julia and David joined us for a great stripped-down session in our Listener Lounge! This song was inspired by a band member’s nervous Pomeranian! Knowing this makes me love the song ever more.
“When you left me on the porch
I felt like I was gonna die
So I guess I’ll pace the floor
I’m shaking, whining, wonder why?
I can’t relax now
I can’t, you’re gone
But when you’re back
I’m going anywhere that you’re going
I’m going anywhere that you’re going
I’m going anywhere that you’re going
I’ll go too, take me with you”
This Chicago band has great energy, and they’re playing tonight at Shrine Social Club. Their latest album, “Singing to an Empty Chair,” is based on just that. Julia worked out a lot of issues with an imaginary chair partner.Their producer is Chris Walla, founding member of Death Cab For Cutie. Their band name comes from a nickname Julia’s college friends had given her.
They’re about to do a tour with Jesse Welles, they were only a little familiar with his music. After hearing about the great non-profits and causes Ratboys have played for in Chicago, this is going to be a divine partnership.
