We had a phenomenal backstage sound check party with The Head and The Heart! Backstage at The Idaho Botanical Garden, I watched a couple of the bands’ kids jump into a wading pool and lay flat. They’re traveling with 4 kids on this tour, and they’re having a blast!
Charity came up and gave me a warm and genuine welcome. They remembered playing a session at our station 14 years ago!
This time, we took our winners to where the band was. They had arrived at 9 am from Utah, and appreciated having the day to chill and enjoy the garden.
My dear friend Melissa (who used to do evenings on The River) was in town, and helped me take some photos and ask some questions!
Our party started with a Q&A with the band. Here’s their answer to the question asking about what they do in their down time.
When asked who their favorite artists were who influenced them, names like David Byrne, and Lucy Dacus were dropped. They also spoke about their first meetings at The Conor Byrne Pub in Seattle.
After the Q&A, we had group photos and then a short acoustic group from some of the band. It was such a great backstage experience for all.
Wilderado opened the show. This band from Tulsa is SO good! I hope they return soon, and can do a session for us in studio.
On Facebook, a friend of mine posted regarding The Head and The Heart, “how are all my friends here for a band I’ve never heard of?” It made me grin, because I knew at the end of the concert she’d know why! The Boise love for this band could be felt by everyone.
Check out their latest album “Aperature.”
Make sure to join us TOMORROW NIGHT for our Mt. Joy 25th Anniversary concert at Outlaw field! Head to our River booth for a free t-shirt while they last!
