TREEFORT 2023

We had so much fun this Treefort, even with moody weather. We had snow at the beginning and end.

My friends pointed out that it’s hard to comprehend HOW anyone puts on an event of this size. There are so many details. Parking, passes, wristbands, food, vendors, volunteers, the amazing app. We are so lucky to have this festival!

Luckily, some of our events were sessions and performances. We started with The Heavy Heavy in our Blue Moon Listener Lounge!

Second Chance shows were a blast, with a few sessions at The Record Exchange. Death Valley Girls were so much fun!

There was an awesome in-store from the band Causeway. I think Tim would love this band.

There were so many great local bands. I checked out Jan Reed & The In Between. I noticed that I knew a couple people in the band. The bass payer is a person I used to work with, and now I work with his mom, who is our amazing receptionist!

Valley Regional Transit offered up the free Treeline shuttle, with bands on the bus. It was so fun to hear Hillfolk Noir, and watch a SAW be played on the bus!

ANI DIFRANCO

Funny story. I had been posting SO many photos and updates on Treefort, I was getting hashtag fatigue. While at the Ani show, I asked my friend to help me type hashtags since I had my contacts in, and wanted to make sure I didn’t spell anything wrong. My friend had partaken of some beverages, and at that moment Ani did the song “Untouchable Face.” We sang along with it, and my friend with my phone in hand joked, “you should put hashtag F**k you!” We laughed, I got my phone back and we all went about our evening.

Fast forward to the next day, I happened to look at some posts on our pages. TO MY HORROR…I see the hashtag #f**kyou at the end of my Ani photo, my friend had actually posted it by mistake! MORE HORROR, I see it was copied from Instagram, a default feature I can’t stand for so many reasons. I couldn’t type fast enough to edit this, 30 people had already liked the post! Big oops on my part!

Here’s an Ani song, with no cussing.

Ani was interviewed for an hour at Storyfort at the museum. It was really great. She talked about how hard it is to make money digitally now, and that labels almost look appealing after all these years. She feels the human element is missing. She focused much on that theme, emphasizing how important it is for us to all find a way to connect with each other. Ani spoke of 2 books she has read recently. “The Family Roe,” she says is a book about Roe VS: Wade, and she said you don’t know the whole story. Ani said she’s also really curious about Near Death Experiences right now. An NDE book she loves is called, “Dying to Be Me: My Journey from Cancer, to Near Death, to True Healing.” She says the person had Stage 4 cancer, and after their NDE in time, there was no cancer in their body. No one can explain it.

Ani loves living in New Orleans, she likes the pace of things. She has a great children’s book called, “The Knowing.”

A bonus to Treefort, was getting a ride on my friend Seth Brown’s party bus, “Bianca!” My friends and I hopped on to do a few circles around town while doing karaoke. It was an epic experience, my friend say, “We Built This City.” You can rent his party bus for pretty much any event. Check out his Facebook page to learn more.

Didn’t get enough of Margo Price at Treefort? She’s just been added to Sawtooth Valley Gathering!

I hope you loved Treefort, and shared some time with friends. I hope the grass grows back soon, and I hope the Zoo animals didn’t get too nervous. Rest up, because…
