LARKIN POE SESSION 2023

Rebecca and Megan Lovell from Larkin Poe joined us for a session, after having been in Boise to celebrate Rebecca’s birthday! They spent some time last night at Devotion Tattoo shop, and had dinner at Tupelo Honey. Rebecca’s husband joined her for her birthday, and might make a stage appearance at tonight’s show!

The roads were closed during some of their recent touring, so we were really lucky they made it to their Boise show.

The name Larkin Poe has family siginificance, their great great great great grandfather’s name was Larkin Haskew Poe. He was a distant cousin of Edgar Allen Poe!

The girls play many different instruments, including : classical violin and piano, dobro, mandolin, guitar, lap steel, keyboards, bass, drum programming, and even banjo.

As sisters, they say they had some rough times in their late teens and early 20’s, but they’ve worked it all out now. They love being a package deal. They don’t know where one ends and where the other begins. They grew up in a small town in Georgia, they spent time exploring in the woods and being “Little Huck Finns.”

Larkin Poe talked about how David Crosby touched their lives. They grew up being huge fans, and he was a huge fan of Larkin Poe. He shared their videos.

Their 7th studio album is called “Blood Harmony.”

When asked if they though blues would be around forever, they said, “Yes. I think blues music is able to connect the dots where there are no words to express human emotion, and for that, blues will live forever.”

Epic.
