Curtis Stigers at The Record Exchange

Curtis Stigers is one of our Boise homegrown world-famous singers. If you’ve lived here many years, you might remember his group The Hi Tops. He’s been making music for 30 years, and has a new album called “This Life.”

This was a wonderful way to wrap up Record Store Day weekend, and really nice to have a Sunday night session with free parking. Curtis brought his fancy Audio Technical mics, and settled in for many songs and stories. I’m always grateful that Dave Eilers and The Record Exchange staff share raw audio, so I can make these remixes.

It was great to see guitarist Shakey Dave Manion 2 days in a row. He had just played Saturday with Eilen Jewell at Shade City Brewfest. Dave is one of the best in town, he adds really tasteful leads to songs. Curtis joked that it’s a good thing Dave can’t read maps, or he would have left Boise long ago.

Curtis wrote this song in Nashville in 1998 with songwriter friend Beth Neilsen Chapman. He dedicates it to his daughter Ruby, who no longer lives at home.

Jodi Peterson of Interfaith Sanctuary, is Curtis Stiger’s wife. Today is her birthday. Curtis is obviously so proud of Jodi and her work.

Before coming to Boise, Curtis had played in Durango, Colorado. He said it was 70 degrees in the morning, then snowing sideways in the afternoon.

We look forward to our next Live River Session in the Blue Moon Listener Lounge. Mat Kearney will be here May 9th!
