LO TALKER
We are so thankful to the bands who are willing to come play sessions in our studio, or let us record them at The Record Exchange. It is the weirdest time ever, as it feels like bands are trying to outrun their shadows and play as many shows as possible before things slow down.
One band I enjoyed so much that I had to see twice, was Lo Talker. They DROVE here from Athens, Georgia, with all the gigs being canceled between here and there due to Covid. This band is fun, their music is great, and they seem genuine. The singer talked a lot about how his dad will tell him if he has a hit song or not. I saw singer Andrew Shepard sipping a cold drink on the Neurolux patio in his giant hat, enjoying some people-watching and chat. They played several Treefort shows, then loaded up to drive back to Georgia. I really hope this group makes it back so we can try to have them in our studio.
ORCHESTRA GOLD
Erich and Mariam made time to stop in to visit with us in the Blue Moon Listener Lounge. I was really excited hear some psychedelic music from Mali, and learn about their projects.
Miriam teaches online African dance classes. Learn more HERE.
Orchestra Gold would love to return, and bring some drumming and dance classes to Boise! We’re hoping we can help them make that happen.
It’s really fun that they encourage remixes and offer a membership to do that with. Info on The Vault, HERE.
Their full band has 7 members, and Erich mentioned he had an adrenaline crash after playing their show the night before. Their songs have so much energy!
Watch our full interview with song remixes below. We talk about music, cultural appropriation, Islam, and dancing. They were so kind and appreciative.
