My dad recently had throat surgery and was told to not use his voice for three weeks. He’s supposed to whisper. But he can’t. He doesn’t know how. I never knew this about my father. It turns out, there are people who are physically unable to whisper, usually because they didn’t learn how to do it as a child. Read about it here.

Meanwhile, my dad is really good at texting, so that’s how we’re communicating for a couple more weeks.
