Do these chickens look scary to you?
Last weekend, I went to the City of Boise free compost site on Joplin Road. I wanted to fill a small bucket to add to a garden bed. Fall is the time to add compost to garden beds so it can work its magic with the soil over the winter and early spring.
However, these chickens evidently own the compost pile now. The insects living in the compost are obviously a free chicken buffet. I thought it was no big deal until I opened my car door and one charged at me.
I waited a few minutes. Tried to get out of my car again, and…nope.
Realizing I didn’t have any chicken calming strategies, I left. Maybe another day.
So. Help me. What should I do when encountering aggressive chickens?
