The Forgotten Boise 7 Interview

This Saturday at 4pm, Boise Pride is virtual. There will be many performances, and it features Alex Newell and our friend Mary Lambert! Learn more about this weekend’s Pridefest HERE.

Some of Boise’s history includes some controversial gay history. In the 50’s, the “Boys of Boise” scandal was going on. If you’re not familiar with it, check out Seth Randall’s “Fall of 55” movie. It’s rich with Boise history and interviews. Watch it now on Amazon Prime.

As for lesbian history in Boise, an event kept in secrecy is known as “The Boise 7.”  In the 70’s, 7 women were fired from the Boise Police Department for being accused of being lesbian.

Luckily, this story won’t be unheard of for long. Local community member Andrea Scott got together with Arizona filmmakers Ann Cabano and Michelle Ann Vincent, and they’re creating an amazing film project that already has grant support from the Idaho Humanities Council!

I’m honored to be on their team to do audio for the film. Learn more about this amazing project in this interview below.

The women from “The Forgotten Boise 7” have lived in shame and secrecy for decades. They are ready for their stories to be told. Learn more about their fundraising below.

Consider donating to help the film budget at their Indigogo page, and get some cool merch! “The Forgotten Boise 7,” is set to be shown in Boise at next year’s Pride at The Flicks Theater.
