Dad Bod Donuts and Potato Eclairs

A sampling of food notes from my River Morning reports this week. First, happy birthday to Louie’s Italian Restaurant. My first meal at Louie’s was in their Ketchum restaurant after riding my motorcycle to the mountains. That location is long gone, but Louie’s is still a family favorite in Meridian. Fifty-five years in Idaho.

For Father’s Day, how about some Dad Bod donuts from the Donut + Dog at The Village at Meridian? That Coffee Crumble looks good, too.

Chandlers is selling four-course butcher block packs for Father’s Day. Must order by 5 pm today (Friday).

And look at these delicious bacon caramels from The Chocolat Bar. Made with BACON restaurant bacon. Although pre-orders have closed, a little bird told me some are available to purchase in the shop on Bannock.

Pick up some cans of Giggle Juice, jalapeno wine lemonade, to cool off this weekend from Potter Wines in Garden City.

Win free groceries for a year from Idaho Press. You can enter once a day here.

I’ve never heard of a panzanella salad, but I immediately know I would love it. Find it at Lemon Tree Co.

The Capital City Public Market is at the 34th  Street Market in Garden City tomorrow, starting at 9 am. The Safari Farm, part of Global Gardens, will be there with greens and beets and carrots.

And about those Idaho potato eclairs. They were invented by the Kula Connection. Made entirely of potatoes, but it looks like a regular eclair. It’s curious and I need to try it as soon as possible.

A lucky taste-tester at the 34th St. Market.

An eclair that pairs with beer makes it even more interesting.

Share local foodie notes. I want to know it all. deb@riverboise.com.
