Foodie Notes: Old Recipes and Glitter Beer

A few highlights from a week of River Morning reports.

I am so glad my mom added be to a group on Facebook called Social Distance Recipes. Add yourself. The “it” recipe is Apple Fritter Loaf. I enjoy the posts where people have taken pictures of old family recipes. What a treasure.

On to local goodness. First, the glitter. Barbarian Brewing has tapped a new beer, Fafner’s Gold, that has edible glitter in it. Yes!

The Donut + Dog at The Village at Meridian is offering to-go and curbside this weekend. Order brioche donuts or hot dogs or those French fries I like so well, or the homemade potato chips. Beer and mimosas, too.

Bella Aquila Ristorante in Eagle has a to-go menu and chef specials posted daily on their Facebook page. Call to order, or order at their website

Main Street Burger in Meridian – the drive through is open, staying open until 9 pm Friday and Saturday

Hugo’s Deli, both locations, curbside and takeout. Order online or call the store on Fairview, or at Linder at Chinden

Blue Sky Bagels is reopening for takeout beginning Tuesday, April 21

Willi B’s Saloon on Chinden near Cloverdale is open for takeout. The menu is at willibs.com. You can also order beer and their famous white Russians to-go. Prepay for curbside service

Coffee Studio in Downtown Meridian , drive thru window open, and selling digital gift cards at the window or call. Buy $30 and get a free drink. Look at their breakfast burritos.

Pop’s Popcorn Factory on Chinden offering free delivery in a five-mile radius. Call to order, or order online. Free dental floss with all purchases, just ask

Vine Wine Shop and Lounge offering this Saturday. Yum!

Wild West Mamma Italia in Eagle has posted a to-go menu on their Facebook page. Call to order and schedule pickup between 4 and 7

Hilltop Station on Highway 21 offering their pizzas to-go, and draft beer from local breweries

Express Café on Fairview in Meridian re-opening Saturday for takeout or hit the drive through

Juniper on 8th in Boise has reopened for to-go orders. Menu sample: duck confit and pancetta, truffle mac and cheese, deviled eggs and crab cakes.

The Hyde House in Hyde Park in Boise offering specials for dinner daily. Plus pantry supplies and chocolate chip cookie kits.

Sizzler on Eagle Road in Meridian, and the Nampa location, offering curbside pickup and delivery. Nice prices. The first time I ever tried crab was at Sizzler in Nampa as a teenager. Love at first bite.

Old Country Sausage in Nampa, sausages made in-house, open for to-go orders. Lunch is their specialty. Call to order and see their menu on their Facebook page

Amaru Confections on Roosevelt in Boise has re-opened its retail shop on Saturdays, only a couple people at a time, please, or have sweet treats delivered

Gluten-Free Galaxy in Nampa has ready-to-bake foods ready for pickup. Nut-free and dairy free, too

Lemon Tree Co. sandwich shop in downtown Boise is offering to-go food every day of the week now. And they’ve added dinner hours Monday through Friday. You can also have food delivered. Buy a gift certificate online and 100 percent of that money goes to employees

The Flats 16 Restaurant between Eagle and Star is cooking up dinner for the weekends. Meals to go for Friday and Saturday. Order at TheFlats16.com, located on Highway 16

Potter’s Tea House in Meridian is selling their loose-leaf teas for delivery. Order through their website, they will deliver to your doorstep, ring the bell and run like a “teenage ninja Santa Claus”
