Safety Plans at The Record Exchange

[The Record Exchange/Facebook]Look at all that delicious vinyl. Last call for in-person shopping today. Then, The Record Exchange will close until April 3rd. You can still order online and even get curbside delivery.

Here is their note.

Dear Record Exchange customers,

Thank you for sticking with us as we navigate the effects of the pandemic on our independent business. After careful consideration, The Record Exchange has decided to temporarily close the store to the public at the end of the day Thursday, March 19 (open 9-7pm), with limited hours for curbside service and delivery for online and phone orders during the closure. We plan to reopen the store to customers on Friday, April 3.

TENTATIVE HOURS FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS:

Thursday, March 19: 9am-7pm
Friday, March 20-Thursday, April 2: Closed to public; online orders 24/7, curbside pickup for phone/online orders 11am-6pm
Friday, April 3: 9am-9pm (gift shop opens at 7:30am)

The health of our staff and customers is priority No. 1. We have been closely monitoring COVID-19 (coronavirus) updates and taking all precautions recommended by health officials and government agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the State of Idaho and City of Boise.

But the time has come to take this next step and do our part to help flatten the curve.

This doesn’t mean you won’t be able to shop The Record Exchange. In fact, there are several ways you can keep the music spinning:

We have an online shop featuring our new vinyl and new/used CD inventory, including upcoming new releases that will still be available during the closure. We ship anywhere in the world, and starting now we’re offering DELIVERY within Ada County for orders of $25 or more! Same-day delivery is available for orders made before 5pm; orders made after 5pm will be delivered the next day. There is a $3 flat rate per delivery.

There are two ways to access the shop: shop.therecordexchange.com and via the free Record Exchange app, which you can download via the app store on your phone (direct link here).

Delivery is also available for anything else in the store (music or otherwise) not found on the website by calling (208) 344-8010.

We are also offering curbside pickup for anything in the store from 11am to 6pm daily. Phone orders for curbside pickup can be made 10am-6pm. If you shop online and want curbside pickup, choose the curbside option at checkout.

You can still make preorders and special orders online and via phone. During this time, however, we are requiring pre-payment for special orders.

Still want to shop for used vinyl? You can do that, too. Anything you saw before we closed or anything we highlight on socials in the coming weeks is available for purchase. Just call us between 10am-6pm and we can take your order for shipment, delivery or curbside pickup.

In addition to our online store, The Record Exchange has shops on DiscogseBay and Amazon Marketplace with hundreds of rare, collectible and used vinyl and CD titles, markdown new vinyl titles, DVDs, Blu-ray, laserdiscs and VHS. We’ll be adding more and more titles to these shops while our physical location is closed.

Another way you can support the store during this temporary closure is to purchase a Record Exchange gift card for future shopping. A gift card doesn’t expire for 18 months and can be used at any time, including the rescheduled Record Store Day on June 20. Order via phone at (208) 344-8010 or online and we’ll ship it to you, or choose “pick up in store” and we’ll have it waiting for you at the store when we reopen.

Look for further updates via email and on FacebookInstagram and Twitter. While we’re closed, we will continue to use our socials to highlight new releases and used vinyl arrivals (which we will pull from our storage facility of 80,000 records). And if anything changes with our anticipated April 3 reopening date, we’ll be sure to let you know.

If you have any questions, please email us, message us on our socials or give us a call.

Thank you for choosing to support The Record Exchange and other independent businesses in the community. We appreciate it immensely.

~Debbie
