Plant crocus in the lawn

Several years ago, I saw a photo online of a yard with little yellow and purple flowers in it. Crocuses pop up in late winter or early spring in growing zone. So I got a bag of those tiny little bulbs and tucked them into the lawn in late October.

Crocuses are considered a “naturalizing” bulbs, so they return each year and gradually, there are more and more of them.

They will be done blooming before it’s time to give the lawn its first mow of the season in late March or early April.

P.S. Crocus plural? Is it crocus, crocuses or Croci? All are acceptable. There are fall-flowering versions, and one type brings us saffron.
