My 18-year-old daughter is in a school musical and needed something “lighter than tights or leggings” to wear under her dress. She went to Target and found…pantyhose. She says they are so light and comfortable!
I did some closet-digging and found two pair. The packaging says 2010. Seems close to accurate as to the last time I wore pantyhose.
What a flashback. I used to wear them nearly every day. Part of the reporter uniform. I kept an extra pair in my messenger bag just in case of big snags or runs. I had a monthly budget line item just for pantyhose. The nicest ones weren’t cheap. They’re still not cheap for being essentially a disposable clothing item.
More flashbacks. Advertising from the ’70s, shaming women for having “wrinkles around their ankles.”
Gentlemen prefer Hanes? Times have changed.
And collecting the L’eggs containers for school art projects.
And one more thing. Last time I posted a photo of something on my desk at work, several people noticed the clock radio in the background. [see above] A vintage GE two alarm model. It’s special. Really. More about that tomorrow.
