Dragonflies are steampunk. This variety has been hanging around the garden all week. They like to perch on anything tall and skinny. They’re nice to have around because they eat aphids, mosquitoes and other little flying insects.
Below are ornate checkered beetles. Sometimes, they’re yellow. They prefer yarrow flowers.
Unknown moth that had been beat up by my Athena Kitty.
I’m so old, I remember when we didn’t have leopard slugs in Boise. They’re not native and started making themselves known around 2010? Idaho Department of Fish and Game lists them as giant gardenslugs. They are large and seem to be extra slimy. I escorted these two to the compost bin.
Ugh.
