Now you see it, soon you won’t?

Stare at the center of this image for 15-20 seconds and it starts fading away.

It’s called the Troxler Effect. Basically our eyes are “refreshing” the view. Plus, while we THINK we are staring, our eyes are making tiny movements and the process leads to filtering out data that is low contrast.
