Boise Hole Memories

A Facebook memory popped up this week. An ugly memory of an ugly time at 8th & Main in Downtown Boise. The Boise Hole.

It had its own Twitter account. A series of sad tweets and loneliness.

Here are some Boise Hole photos from my personal collection that were featured at BoiseDailyPhoto.com. My favorite is this one. “Take Your Daughter/Son to the Boise Hole Day.” October 7, 2010. My daughter Aviana was NOT amused. She grabbed my flip phone and called my husband to complain I took her to the hole.

Giant art panels went up to try to hide the scene of the crime. It was literally a crime scene at one point.

Every once in a while, it looked like something was going on.

The photo above was a false alarm. It just looked like action as the developer at that time tried to make the case that something was going to happen.

Then one, day, it looked like something really was happening.

Finished product is the tallest building in Idaho.

Check out this slideshow of the evolution from the Boise Weekly. And a detailed history of the site, and the several buildings that once lived there, from the Idaho Architecture Project.
